The dense forested valley of the Rengbach is spanned by a wooden bridge constructed in 1791, acting as a pilgrim pathway to the church of Hergiswood. Aim of the project was to construct a new bridge in an acceptable distance, where cars can pass. The conceptual design proposes a slim construction assuring the view on the old bridge. Both bridges establish a unique ensemble, with the wodden bridge persisting as soloist. The new bridge is constructed with two arches of prestressed concrete and therefore leaves a very slim impression. Altogether the bridge is charaterized by the use of only one material, and a very effizient and narrowed construction and design.
