Office history

Drexler Guinand Jauslin is a young international office for architecture which works in Frankfurt, Rotterdam and Zurich. Besides collaborating on projects since five years Hans Drexler, Marc Guinand and Daniel Jauslin wrote several articles on architectural theory and taught Landscaping and Architecture.
Since 1999 the office Drexler Guinand Jauslin exists as a permanent institution. It was growing out of a versatile collaboration that has lasted for several years. The main focus of our recent work lies on the application of new architectural concepts and an innovative design method on contemporary building tasks. The office has developed a set of conceptual tools in dealing with questions of architecture, movement and landscape. Meanwhile they collected practical experience as project leaders and design architects in various offices of partially international reputation. We emerged from the need to create a working platform to test our tools on our own, real building sites.

Hans Drexler, Marc Guinand, and Daniel Jauslin met during their studies at the Federal Swiss Institute of Technology ETH in Zurich. In 1996 we did our first design project together in the design class of Marc Angelil. Ever since we enjoy working, designing, thinking, and discussing together about architecture.

After working in international offices like West8, OMA, HolzerKobler, and Atelier Markgraph the joint participation in two competitions led to two successes and the founding of DGJ in its current form.
